Week 3 - May I Believe God for a Spouse?
We left off in Janaury with the following:

I like what Genesis 2:18 says, It is not good that the man should be alone. What, then, was the "good" to answer the aloneness of man? A wife/help suitable for Adam.

I would like to point out that God did not give the man a bunch of male friends to hang out with to answer his aloneness. He also did not give him a group of females to share the garden with.

Psalm 34:10 and Psalm 84:11 show a promise of God that you will surely be interested in. "but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing." "...the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly." The Hebrew word used here for withhold is translated from the word that means debar from benefit, deny, keep back. God will not deny you any benefit if you walk uprightly before Him.

So you say, "I've been doing that for years." Aha, don't forget, that the just shall live by faith. Faith comes by hearing the Word. So, keep reading the Word of God where it pertains to this desire for a spouse.

If God felt that it was a good thing to give Adam a wife and we know that God does not change...Then you can surely expect God to grant you your desire for a spouse.

There is more. Take a look at I Corinthians 7:2 "Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband." Note the use of the word every. That verse belongs to every single person that will believe it. We are not to be subject to the world's system that embraces fornication as the norm. So God has an answer to this. Avoid fornication by having a spouse. If the Lord encourages you in His Word to have a spouse, then I suggest we seek His wisdom on the steps He would recommend us to take to "obey Him" and receive that spouse/help meet.

God would not give you instructions that could not be carried out. If He said, "have your own wife" "have your own husband" as opposed to someone else's or someone who is not your own, then you should expect Him also to provide that someone. Remember: "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." Luke 18:27

I will stop here so you can digest this information. Get out your Bible and read over these scriptures. Pray over them and get God's desire for you in them. God is not a respector of persons.

In the meanwhile, enjoy the fellowship of other single believers.

These are some pictures of singles gathering for lunch after church services on Sunday. These singles are from different churches in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. A young lady coordinates these functions. Good news spreads fast, and the number of singles attending these functions has grown.

Check out the book corner. "Single and Wanting to be Married..." is available. Lots of the Word of God on the topic.<
