Hers

Is there a difference between the thinking of a 20- or 30-something-year-old single male and a 40- or 50-something never-married single male about getting married? I will address that in the next article. In the meanwhile, first, view the video on the “HIS” Webpage. After that, view the response from her HERE of the marry-me-or-don’t-bother-coming-over ultimatum given by her. This film clip is from the movie “Picnic,” which was released by Columbia Pictures in 1955.

Woman Praying

What Are You Sowing?

By Victoria Hundley

This time of the season is so nice. The leaves are turning all shades of colors from golden yellow, orange and flaming red. The air turning crisp and the sky is clear; you see stars in the sky more clearly and can smell the wood burning from peoples’ homes. It’s such a nice change in the season from a hot blazing summer to a nice crisp fall.

Another nice part about this time of the year is harvest time, when all the farmers start to harvest all their crops from the hard work they have done all year long. We get to partake of all the things they have harvested that year. We get our fruits and vegetables and other things from them. Just like the farmer has planted seed in the ground and reaped a harvest, when we plant seed we reap a harvest also. When we plant seeds of time, finances and even being kind to someone we will reap a harvest from that to ourselves.

Harvest Time

Luke 6:38 says,

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

It says the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you. The same type of seed you sow you will reap. Even on the negative side you will reap the same thing back. If you are hateful to people, you will reap the same attitude back later on from someone.

I’ve seen people with terrible attitudes about life. They are always looking on the negative side of life and guess what? They are going to reap what they are sowing; it’s like faith for the negative. They are expecting something bad, nothing to ever work for them, they are expecting failure and defeat to happen to them, and that is exactly what they are going to reap, whatever they are expecting. So what you and I need to do is to stay on the positive side of life. Expect good things to happen to you, look on the bright side of life, also, sow good things into peoples’ lives that you see. A simple smile, helping an elderly person put their cart back at the grocery store that might be struggling, giving someone an encouraging word, bless someone with finances. Whatever the Lord leads you to do. Listen to your heart and He will show you what to do. You are His servant and these are simple ministry opportunities you can do.

Matthew 25:31-40

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’”

When we do something, we do it unto the Lord.

Thankfulness

This is also a season to remember to be thankful. God loves it when we are thankful, it is His will for you.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

We should all have a thankful heart. Thankful for what we do have, if something does not go your way or go as planned be thankful for what you do have. Many people have so little. Be thankful to have a roof over your head, be thankful for the food that you have to eat, be thankful for your job, your friends and family. Be thankful for salvation and what Jesus has done in your life, and how He has always been there for you.

This is a new season, a new season to expect a harvest and a new season to start being thankful.

In many cases, becoming single due to divorce has left females with joint or full custody of their children, which requires her to be the head of her household instead of being the helper. On another note, there is an increasing number of single females who are professionals, 40 or more years old, and never married. These women have left their father’s house, gone to school, gotten an education, and are now competing with men for the same jobs.

What is a man to do? One guy I spoke with told me a man would let the woman have the authority if she wants it. He will let her take the pressure and responsibility that he would normally assume. The man will then kick back and enjoy life

Once the woman has taken the authority, she has created her own problem. She runs things rather smoothly and to her pleasure. She accomplishes, in her opinion, what needs to be done. The problem then is whatever authority she has taken from the male, she can’t give it back because she has accomplished this her way. She has created for herself a conundrum. Something like a commercial used to run on television: a woman saying, “I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never, never, never let you forget you’re a man.” This woman was obviously on drugs. Advice to the ladies, get the wisdom of God involved in all that you do. Be willing to trust your Father.

I have been told in discussions with guys that they have to deal with the fear of rejection all the time when it comes to approaching a female of interest. But, what a man wants, he will surely go after if he wants it bad enough. I’ll give you an example. Last year at my church, we had a 4th of July celebration. It was open to the public. We had concession stands set up in the parking lots. I was a volunteer at the hamburger and hot dog concession. The weather was warm with a little cloud cover. As the clouds passed, it got hot.The line at the hamburger and hotdog concession was very long. It was wrapped in a snake-like fashion. There was at least a 30-45 minute wait to get to the front of the line for food. As time passed, I noticed a strikingly handsome gentleman in the line. He had maybe five more minutes before he got to me to order his food.

I did my best not to stare at him. Being single, I couldn’t afford to give the impression of desperation. I looked at everything but him. I looked at the ground; I looked at the sky. You know the routine, ladies. When he got to the head of the line, he ordered his food and paid for it. Then he leaned over and motioned me to come over so he could tell me something. He whispered in my ear, “I think you are very pretty.” I thanked him and blushed a bit. Then he was gone. (I have to admit that for the rest of that evening, I looked for him to come back to talk with me. He didn’t. Bummer!) Back to my point. This guy didn’t have to tell me that. The situation was not conducive to that. I came away from that, thinking that if a man wants to speak with you, he’ll do it. Ladies, you continue to be your pretty little self; he is made to be the hunter.

Man Blackboard Calculations

Next thought: are women faster and smarter than men are? I think it is unfair and unwise to compare one with the other. Men and women are different. Men have strengths that are given to them by God. We, women, admire that in men. Women also have strengths that God has given them. The challenge is to encourage men to be men and encourage women to be women. How does a single woman running her life by her rules keep her feminine edge? Hmmm. What is being promoted to the male of our species? Are they looking to have a life for them made easy? Have we women decided that we won’t need to be treated as the weaker/softer vessel because some men have, unlike their Father God, abused that “weaker vessel” verse of scripture? (I Peter 3:7, “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them (women) according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”)

Thank You
