Hers

Is there a difference between the thinking of a 20- or 30-something-year-old single male and a 40- or 50-something never-married single male about getting married? I will address that in the next article. In the meanwhile, first, view the video on the “HIS” Webpage. After that, view the response from her HERE of the marry-me-or-don’t-bother-coming-over ultimatum given by her. This film clip is from the movie “Picnic,” which was released by Columbia Pictures in 1955.

The Love of God!

By Victoria Hundley

I would like to share with you what a wonderful and loving Heavenly Father we have. God is such a loving God. He loves you and me so much that He sent His only Son Jesus to die for you and to die for me. That is how much He loves us. That He would send His only son to die for us and to win us back into the kingdom of God. (John 3:16) Have you ever heard of the story in the Bible about the lost sheep?

Matt. 18:10-14

“Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Even so, it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”

That is an example of the love of our Heavenly Father, He would leave the 99 to come after you. He cares so deeply for you. He loves you so much that he even knows how many hairs are on your head. So whatever problems you may be facing know they are not caused by God. He is not the one causing problems, the devil is. God is the one bringing you the help you need to overcome the problem.

John 10:10

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

In this article, I am going to share with you what God is like and how you can know Him personally. God is such a good God and He has such good things in store for you.

#1 What God is like

God is Love! Someone may ask who is God, what is He like? Well, He is Love. That is who He is, Love.

1 John 4:16

“And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”

Have you ever seen a loving parent with their child? How they would do anything for that child? That parent would go hungry before they would let their child go hungry, or stay up all night with their sick child. That is an example of our loving Heavenly Father. That love that that parent has come from God, He put that love in that parent for that child.

James 1:17

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

Since God is a God of love let us look at a few scriptures about His love toward us.

I John 4:10

“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 16:27

“For the Father, Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.”

All good things come from God. God has gifts and blessings for you. He has an abundant life for you. Now let me show you how you can get to know Him in a personal way.

#2 How to Know God Personally

Isaiah 43:1-4 MSG

“But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.”

God is a personal God. He wants you to know Him in a personal way. He wants to be your best friend. How do you know someone personally? By spending time with them. When you spend time with someone you get to know them. You learn their character, their humor, what they like or don’t like. That is how your relationship with God should be. Personal and intimate.

The #1 way to know God is to know Him through His Word. When you spend time reading the Word of God and getting familiar with the Word you will get familiar with God, you will get familiar with His ways.

I’m going to tell you a story of how God was faithful and showed me His love just because I am His daughter. One evening I was talking on the phone with a friend of mine. I was telling her how I needed a car. She suggested that we agree in prayer and believe God for a car. I told her alright. She prayed and I agreed. As soon as we hung up the phone my grandma called me and told me that she bought me a car. It is amazing how quick God worked. God is ahead of you. God is faithful and full of love. He always looks out for His children.

When someone goes to say something bad about God, you can say, “No, that’s not my God. My God is a good God. He always takes care of me.” Then you can testify to that person, how good God really is.
