Hers

Is there a difference between the thinking of a 20- or 30-something-year-old single male and a 40- or 50-something never-married single male about getting married? I will address that in the next article. In the meanwhile, first, view the video on the “HIS” Webpage. After that, view the response from her HERE of the marry-me-or-don’t-bother-coming-over ultimatum given by her. This film clip is from the movie “Picnic,” which was released by Columbia Pictures in 1955.

Woman Praying

The Sound of Freedom

By Victoria Hundley

Last month we celebrated our freedom in this great nation! We are thankful for all that the men and women of the armed forces have done to keep us free and safe!

As we celebrated Independence Day last month we are reminded not only of the freedom we have in this nation but also the independence and freedom we have in Jesus Christ and what He has done for us on the cross.

In this article, I share with you some of the rights and freedom you have in Jesus Christ in what He has done for you in his death, burial, and resurrection.

#1 Jesus Has Redeemed You

Galatians 3:13-14 NKJV

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Jesus has redeemed you from all the works of the devil. When Jesus died on the cross, you were set free from the bondage of sin and death. You are an overcomer no matter what attacks come against you, you have overcome it. Jesus not only died for you to be free from eternal punishment but also from financial lack and from physical sickness. Praise God!

Now that you know that Jesus has set you free, let us look a little further into what you have been redeemed from.

#2 What Have You Been Redeemed From

As mentioned earlier, you have freedom in Christ from all the works of the devil. You have been redeemed from spiritual bondage, financial lack & physical sickness.

When you were born again you were redeemed from the spiritual bondage from Hell. In Colossians 1:13 Jesus informed the believer that Jesus “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:” You are now on your way to Heaven and have all the spiritual blessings there are in Christ Jesus.

Not only have you been set free spiritually but you have been set free financially and physically. You no longer have to live in financial lack because according to Phil. 4:19, it says “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Also Isaiah 53:4 and 5 informs us that “Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” Praise God! He has redeemed you from so much.

The story of Ruth is a beautiful love story that tells the story of redemption. It can be found in the bible and you can read the entire account there. This story in a way reminds me of the way Jesus has the Kingdom and has brought us into His provision. Ruth was a widow woman and she followed her mother-in-law, Naomi, back to Naomi’s home town. In that land there was a wonderful man who had a lot of land and Ruth started working in his fields. His name was Boaz, he was a man of great wealth. “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof” (Psalm 24:1). Ruth was a faithful woman, she was faithful to her mother-in-law and was faithful while she was working in Boaz’s field. Boaz fell in love with Ruth and they got married. Boaz redeemed Ruth from all her lack and poverty and she was no longer a poor widow woman but was married to a wealthy man. Ruth also became a great grandmother of King David and subsequently in the lineage of Jesus. What a wonderful story. God not only redeemed Ruth but He used her to be the ancestor of King David and to Jesus our Lord. Christ has redeemed us.

#3 How To Walk In Your Freedom

I John 4:4 NKJV

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Jesus lives on the inside of you, so whatever you are dealing with, whatever you have to overcome, Jesus lives in you. He is there to help you overcome all the attacks of the enemy. The devil hates you and will try to attack you in the areas you have been set free from but you have to resist him and stand your ground on what belongs to you. “Whom resist steadfast in the faith…” (1 Peter 5:9). You do not have to go it alone. Jesus is right there with you and He has given you the tools to stand your ground and live in the victory He has already won for you.

How do you overcome the enemy? You have tools that Jesus gave you to overcome with.

    • You have the name of Jesus (At the Name of Jesus every knee should bow)

    • The blood of Jesus (They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb)

    • The Word of God (Sharper than any two-edged sword)

Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”

You see, God gave Jesus all authority in heaven and on earth and Jesus gave that authority to us. You have authority because Jesus gave it to you. You have His name. The name of Jesus and you have the blood of Jesus. These 2 things are very powerful because of what Jesus did for you on the cross. Jesus lived a sinless life and bought back your rights as a child of God. You also have the Word of God to overcome with. You have 3 powerful tools to live in the victory that belongs to you.

Revelation 12:11 NKJV

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

So as you remember all the rights you have as an American on Independence Day, think about the rights you have as a child of God and what Jesus did for you on the cross.
