Hers

Is there a difference between the thinking of a 20- or 30-something-year-old single male and a 40- or 50-something never-married single male about getting married? I will address that in the next article. In the meanwhile, first, view the video on the “HIS” Webpage. After that, view the response from her HERE of the marry-me-or-don’t-bother-coming-over ultimatum given by her. This film clip is from the movie “Picnic,” which was released by Columbia Pictures in 1955.

Renewing Your Soul

By Victoria Hundley

Summertime is here! The sun shines bright, the birds are singing and the weather is nice and hot. It is just nice to get outside, spend time in nature and have some fun in the sun!

God created this earth for us to enjoy. It is good for us to work hard and get things accomplished but it is good to have balance in your life and rest is one thing that contributes to balance. Rest is good for your soul and for your body. You can’t work all the time and be healthy and live long. Your body has to rest, that is why God made the Sabbath, a day to rest.

Genesis 1:31-2:3 NKJV

“Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” “Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.”

We are a 3 part being. We are spirit, soul and body. Our soul is made up of 3 parts too, it consists of your mind, your will and your emotions. It is important to take care of your soul because that is where your thoughts and your emotions come out of. You also need to renew your mind to the Word of God so your soul will think good thoughts.

Romans 12:1-2 NKJV

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

We need to renew our minds with the Word of God to think like Him. Our mind is a part of our soul and we need to keep it healthy just like we keep our body healthy. How do you keep your mind healthy? By keeping it healthy with the Word of God, thinking on the Word of God and renewing your mind. You also need to keep the other areas of your soul healthy by getting out and doing something fun like walking outside in nature, swimming or whatever you enjoy doing. It is good to be balanced in your life.

1. Get Out In Nature

It is important that you take time to get out in nature, to get some fresh air and see God’s creations. God made the world. All the trees, the flowers, and the animals. God made them all and it is good to get out and rest and see God’s creation and enjoy what He has made. He made it for you to enjoy.

*Read Genesis chapter 1 to read of all of God’s creation.

Sometimes I like to just go outside and walk in the neighborhood, or take a hike in a park, go swimming or some other type of outdoor activity. I also like to go see a play or ballet, it’s not outdoors but it is good to get out and do something you enjoy. What is it that you enjoy doing? Try to get a hobby if you don’t have one. It is good for you to do something fun, something you enjoy.

2. Get Plenty of Sleep and Rest

It is important for your body to get plenty of sleep and rest. According to healthline.com this is what happens when we sleep: Many biological processes happen during sleep: The brain stores new information and gets rid of toxic waste. Nerve cells communicate and reorganize, which supports healthy brain function. The body repairs cells, restores energy, and releases molecules like hormones and proteins. There are so many benefits to a good night’s sleep and God promises to give it to us.

Psalms 3:5 NKJV

“I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.”

Psalms 4:8 NKJV

“I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

Psalms 23:1-6 NKJV

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.”

Even Jesus thought it was important for His disciples to rest after much ministering.

Mark 6:30-32 NKJV

“Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.”

3. Renew Your Mind

Spend time in God’s Word to renew your mind so you will think like God thinks.

As you spend time reading God’s Word and listening to good preachers preach the Word, your mind will start to be renewed and you will start thinking the way God thinks instead of wrong thinking.

Ephesians 5:26-27 NKJV

“that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”

As you renew your mind with the Word of God it will change the way you think and will start to wash out any garbage and wrong thinking you may have. Spend some time renewing your soul by getting out in nature, getting plenty of rest, and renewing your mind with the Word of God. You will soon see some good changes take place in you.
