Did you know that you have a lot of power inside of you? Yes you have the power within you to change nations, peoples lives, circumstances, family problems and to be able to pray out your own future. Yes, you have that power within you. It’s Holy Ghost power living down on the inside of you! If you have received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of praying with other tongues, you have the power. This was a gift from God after Jesus ascended into heaven to give to us, it was a gift of power and a special prayer language.
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
The Holy Spirit is such a good helper. He is there to help you when you don’t know what to do. He will help you to pray out things on the earth that need to be prayed out. He is there to give you strength or encouragement when you need it. He is there to lift you up.
I know there have been times when I have felt drained or needed to be strengthened in my spirit. I will just start praying in the spirit in other tongues and I will be charged right back up. It’s like when your gas tank gets low and you need to refill your tank, or your cell phone battery is low and you have to go and charge it up. That’s because you need more power or strength. It’s the same thing for your Spirit man, you need to build your Spirit man back up by praying in the spirit and reading God’s Word. There is strength in both, you need a good spiritual diet of both feeding on God’s Word and praying in the spirit to keep your spirit strong. This world will weigh you down so, you need power to get you through it and overcome the troubles you face. You get that power by praying in the spirit but you must make it a habit to pray in the spirit often and continually.
“Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.”
One person said that this verse means to “be being filled, continually being filled.” We need to continually be filled with the Holy Spirit by praying in other tongues.
“For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.”
As we pray in the spirit we are praying out mysterious, unknown secrets. There are things God needs for you to pray out here on this earth. You see, God cannot do anything on this earth unless we ask Him to, because he gave us the authority on this earth, if we don’t ask Him, He cannot do things. That is why we must pray things out in the spirit. God has assignments for us to take care of in the spirit. When we pray in the spirit we are doing battle in the spirit realm. God needs us to use our authority and pray in the spirit to overcome the evil things in this earth that are going on. If you don’t like what you are seeing in this earth, pray. When you pray you are helping nations change, governments change, churches change, peoples’ lives to change and your own life to change.
“Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”
You can see here in these verses in Ephesians that God has given us power and authority, we need to use our authority and pray.
I remember a story of someone visiting a church and the Pastor was showing them around the church and was showing him how beautiful the church was and how nice and lovely it was and then the Pastor turned and said to the visitor, if you really want to see the real power of the church come with be. He took him to a room down below and he showed him all these ladies down there, praying away. He said this is the real power of the church, these prayers.
You have the power within you to change so many things that need to be changed. God needs your help. Today, spend some time and pray in the spirit it will help change this world. It will also help to build yourself up spiritually. You have the power, now use it for His glory.
