Hers

Is there a difference between the thinking of a 20- or 30-something-year-old single male and a 40- or 50-something never-married single male about getting married? I will address that in the next article. In the meanwhile, first, view the video on the “HIS” Webpage. After that, view the response from her HERE of the marry-me-or-don’t-bother-coming-over ultimatum given by her. This film clip is from the movie “Picnic,” which was released by Columbia Pictures in 1955.

You Can Hear From God

By Victoria Hundley

Many times the devil will tell you that you can’t hear from God, but he is a liar! You can hear from God because the Bible says you can. Today, I am going to show you that God speaks to you and that you can hear from your Heavenly Father.

#1 All of God’s children can hear from God

Romans 8:14 & 16 NKJV

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.…The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,”

John 10:1-5 NKJV

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”

We are God’s children, we can hear from Him. We need to have faith in God’s Word and not in what the devil is telling us. The devil will tell you that you can’t hear from God, that God is not talking to you. Those are lies from the enemy, when we feel like that or hear the enemy telling us these things, we know that it is a lie and not what God says. Anytime the devil opens his mouth, things you hear that are contrary to God’s Word it is nothing but lies that he speaks.

Philippians 4:8 NKJV

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

What we need to do is filter every thought we think through God’s Word. The devil comes from the outside, pressuring us with our thoughts. The battlefield is in mind, and we have to cast down those thoughts that come to us. Thoughts that we are inadequate, thoughts that we can’t do this or that, thoughts that we can’t hear from God, thoughts that we are a failure. Do these types of thoughts come from God? One must ask oneself, do they line up with the Word of God? Are they thoughts that are true, noble, just, or pure? No, these are not thoughts of our Heavenly Father, these are thoughts of the enemy that tries to defeat us and discourage us. We can hear from God because God told us we can, so that is the truth about it. The thoughts the enemy would give us, thoughts that we can’t hear from God, are lies. So don’t listen to him. The truth of God’s Word is what we need to listen to. From Psalm 100:3, we learned, “Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” And Jesus states in John 10:27 that “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

We can hear from God because that is what the Word of God says, what we need to do is renew our minds to the Word of God so we can distinguish what God’s thoughts are and what are the devil’s thoughts. Then make the decision to stay with God’s thoughts.

#2 Renewing Our Mind

Proverbs 4:20-22 NKJV

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh.”

Romans 12:2 NKJV

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

God did not object to David saying in Psalm 139:14, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. You are a marvelous work of God. As you begin to renew your mind on the Word of God and recognize what God’s thoughts are and what the devil’s thoughts you will be able to stop those wrong thoughts with the Word of God and say. “No, that is not what God says about me because the Bible says …”

You must renew your mind by reading the Word of God and meditating on what God’s Word says about you. Meditation is defined as “think deeply or focusing one’s mind for a period of time…” [Oxford]. As you read the Word of God and renew your mind, you will then be able to hear and recognize when God is speaking to you and know what He is saying. Spend some time renewing your mind with the Word of God and listening to your Heavenly Father.

God has a good plan for your life, and you can hear from your Heavenly Father. He loves you and is speaking to you!
